A fabulous typographic exploration of the letter forms and typography of one of Europe's leading design studios. M/M (Paris) was founded in 1992 by Michaël Amzalag and Mathias Augustyniak, and has since become one of the most experimental and influential design practices and art partnerships in the world. Letters from M/M (Paris) is a complete collection of M/M's bespoke typefaces, including those commissioned by the likes of Louis Vuitton, Björk, Vanessa Paradis, Dior and Galeries Lafayette. A foreword by Björk opens the book, which is organized in three separate sections, each following the same chronological order. Section I, 'Histories', tells the background stories of ninety typefaces and lettering projects created by M/M between 1992 and 2019. Section II, 'Specimens', shows the corresponding type and lettering divorced from the context of the original works for which they were designed, at point sizes appropriate to their usage. Section III, 'Projects', shows the real-world application of each typeface, from renowned fashion magazines to cutting-edge album sleeves, posters and fliers. Letters from M/M (Paris) is an open window through which to view a panoramic vista of Amzalag and Augustyniak's typographic world and to enjoy its diverse, fertile and exuberant landscape.
