Oral history memories of Tasmania's Public Works Department (PWD) and/or follow on departments through to privatisation in 2003. The 101 people either worked for the PWD, were contractors, relatives or were interested in the PWD. The people include a range of professions, trades and manual workers; both male and female. The book is not a detailed history of the PWD but is record of the memories of those who were involved. The book includes a timeline of the departments from 1838 through to 2003 and includes for each year names of the minister and key public service positions.
