This is the first comprehensive treatment on the architecture of Bernard Tschumi. Part monograph, part architectural theory, and part novel, the book narrates a journey through a personal history of architecture and architectural ideas, intertwining theory, practice, and hypothetical projects with forty built works. Book is divided into 5 parts, and also includes an introduction and afterword by Tschumi. Part A "Space & Event" - begins with "Imagine you are an architect" and explores what architecture is, what it means to us, how we understand and experience spaces, buildings, and how our experience is shaped by a context of multiple layers involving such things as cities we have visited, movies we have seen, aromas we have smelled, foods we have tasted; looks at Violence of Architecture, Questions of Space, building Parc de la Villette. Part B "Juxtaposition/Superimposition" explores how meaning accrues in spaces designed for one purpose, then used for other and multiple purposes; includes building Opera House, Tokyo. Part C "Vectors & Envelopes," includes Rouen Concert Hall and Exhibition Complex. Part D "Concept, Context, Content" includes BLUE Residential Tower in NY and Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece. Part E "Concept - Form," includes Sheikh Zayed National Museum, Abu Dhabi, UAE
