MOMS is the story of two young mothers whose paths crossed in 1980 after their husbands died suddenly within weeks of each other. Together they founded the first Arkansas chapter of THEOS, a support group for young widowed persons. In developing the organization, they developed an appreciation and respect for each other and realized that they shared the same basic values, strong faith and optimistic outlook--and that they could work as a team. Thus, they decided to go found their own company and to enter the new but up-and-coming world of computers. Quickly they realized that this was a field that was changing constantly but were willing to accept the challenge, knowing that God was providing a master plan for their lives. They balanced the dual roles of business owners and single mothers since Ann had three children and Susan one. Realizing that specialization was necessary for continued success, Ann and Susan decided to sell to and service the medical computer industry and changed the name of the company to Medical Office Management Systems, Inc. By the time that they sold the company nineteen years after its founding, they had more than 500 clients in twenty states. MOMS is a testament to what women can do when they have the faith and courage to face life head on. It recounts the events of these two lives from the time of the deaths of their husbands through the sale of the company almos twenty years later.
