A beautiful story that begins to share strategies about how children can handle worries when they sit on their shoulder. The language is perfect for children of all ages, sharing a gentle but extremely important message about anxiety. This story was written to help build a child's skill set when dealing with a worry. The little purple worry allows the children to think about their problems using a concrete tool. They are then able to 'give' this worry to someone else for some time, empowering the child as to whether they will allow the worry to control them or not. The feelings in this book have been shared by the children I have worked with over time. These are the descriptions of how some worries have made them feel. I've had terrific feedback from as young as 3 to 14 year olds. High schools are using it in a one to one meetings. It really does span most age groups. Because the language is quite simple, emergent readers are able to enjoy it independently.
