In this sequel to "A Princess of Mars", we find John Carter after being forced back to Earth at the end of "A Princess of Mars", returning to Mars after a ten-year absence. Having been separated from his wife Dejah Thoris and his unborn child and in an effort to return to them, Carter struggles against various obstacles in this fantastical imagination of the red planet by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
