The townspeople of Value, AZ have always believed Ruth was peculiar. She'd been gifted most of her life-span to hear whispers of those she called "The Invisibles." Marianne, a Heavenly Being, has volunteered to help and is granted time with Ruth while she waits to hear some news about her parents, Alan and Julia, who haven't returned home from their trip as scheduled. As Sheriff Robert Lancer labors to discover the fate of Ruth's parents, Marianne introduces visions of WWII and her experience of what happened during her growing up years, prior to, and after the war.
