Based on a true story a grandfather explains to his grandson the story behind the dog in portrait hanging on his wall. When he was a young farm boy the stray dog appeared and he wanted to keep him as a pet but his father refused. Some time later he became lost in the bush and the dog whom he thought had long gone, reappeared and comforted him until he was found. A sophisticated picture book. Suggested level: junior, primary.
