THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF BILL SULLIVAN
Jaime Manrique Bill Sullivan
Exhibition catalogue featuring forty years of painting by contemporary American Painter and print maker Bill Sullivan. The catalogue was published in conjunction with a major retrospective exhibition, THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF BILL SULLIVAN , which opened at the Albany Institute of History and Art on June 22, 2006. Sullivan's stunning landscapes range from iconic views of New York State, including Hudson River, Catskill Mountains, Niagara Falls and New York City, to the mountains, volcanoes and waterfalls of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. In his work, Sullivan captures the "soul of the place" by combining his keen sense of observation with memory and imagination. The Colombian writer Jaime Manrique has written the essay to accompany the exhibition. The autobiography of Bill Sullivan includes 50 full color plates, including many of the paintings in the exhibition. Preface is by John Ashberry with additional comments by Reinaldo Arenas.
