For 30years, from 1941 to 1971 the Classics Illustrated graphic novel series introduced generations of children to the greatest stories ever told. The creation of a Russian immigrant to America - Albert Lewis Katner - the series was the largest children's publication in the world by the early 1960's. In 1953 Classic Illustrated Juniors were first published with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, aimed at younger readers.
