Inspector Lu Fei of the Chinese Police lives and works in a normally quiet rural area of Northern China. But the recent crackdown on wet markets - where unusual live animals are sold - has led to a marked increase in the smuggling of exotic animal parts into China. Lu Fei and his team have been directed to run sting operations to catch the local sellers of these illegal things. However, a young girl, Tan Meirong, has shown up at the station to report the disappearance of her fifteen year old sister, Meixiang. Fearing the worst, Lu Fei taps his sources and follows a trail that leads him into great danger.
