Ellen McGowan Biddle was the wife of James Biddle, a US Army officer who saw wide service on the frontier. "Reminiscences of a Soldier's Wife" is a collection of her articulate, astute observations about life in the Army. From Macon, Georgia, to Fort Robinson, Nebraska, Ellen McGowan Biddle followed her husband throughout his career.
