Michael Gilbert
Michael Gilbert (1912-2006) was a British lawyer for many years who had Raymond Chandler as a client. He began writing mysteries in 1947 ultimately writing more than thirty. He was a founder-member of the British Crime Writers' Association. The Mystery Writers of America named him a Grand Master in 1988. Originally written in 1952, in the U.S., this book was titled "The Danger Within". Story description: Among the inmates of a brutally run POW camp in wartime Italy, the death of an informer is likely to cause little regret. But any death in captivity is bound to cause questions to be asked - questions that can prove highly unwelcome to a small group of determined British officers intent on escape.
