Teaching Elementary School Science

For the teacher of elementary school science, his or her greatest concerns are not only what to teach but also how to teach effectively. Teaching Elementary School Science goes beyond traditional texts to emphasize increased efficiency in learning, stressing a competency based approach organized around the Basic Instructional Model (BIM). By first pinpointing pupils' deficiencies in certain areas, the teacher is then able to devise a method to teach the basic skills needed, and finally evaluate student progress to discover if the pre-assessed goals have been met. This text provides both pre-service and in-service teachers with an outstanding opportunity to gain both confidence and competence in the skills needed to make science teaching a rewarding experience.
