The Fallen Leaves

Wilkie Collins's The Fallen Leaves was first published in 1879. Amelius Goldenheart is deported from his Utopian community because of a relationship with an older woman. Arriving in London, he meets the Farnabys and becomes engaged to their niece Regina. He later plays a key role in the reunion of Mrs. Farnaby with her long-lost illegitimate daughter. But the hardships are not yet over for Amelius: Regina breaks off engagement.
