This is one of Adams' earliest works and centers on a quaint gift shop in rural England, a 'haunting' figurine of a girl on a swing and a smitten shop clerk. An enjoyable read, it is wholly different from other Adams works, such as Watership Down, Shardick and The Plague Dogs.
