Eugene Onegin

Eugene Onegin is a famous novel in verse written by Russian author Alexander Pushkin. Eugene Onegin is considered as classic of Russian literature. This character became a basic model for a number of heroes of Russian literature. The novel was published in 1833, modern commonly accepted version is based on 1837 publication. The story is being told by a narrator. He sounds intimate, educated and worldly. The story is about the life of Eugene Onegin in the 1820s. He is a Saint Petersburg dandy, whose life is nothing but a waste of time. He visits balls, concerts and parties. One day he gets inheritance from his uncle. Then he moves to the village and he strikes up a friendship with his neighbor. And that’s where begins the novel full of love, drama and plots. The book is admired by the readers for the artfulness of the narrative verse as well as for the image of life, death, love, ennui, convention and passion.
